All children should visit the dentist by age 1 or 6 months after the first tooth erupts. This is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
What if my child has no teeth?
At your child’s first visit – we will take a look at your child’s mouth together. We will discuss:
– how to care for your child’s mouth and teeth
– teething and what teeth to expect in the following year
– whether fluoride is appropriate for your child
– habits such as thumb sucking
– oral and facial accidents and trauma – what to do and how to prevent them
– diet and its effect on oral health
